Tommy Williford was born in Raleigh, North Carolina but raised along the coast in churches, locker rooms, and broken homes. He holds a B.A. in English from The Citadel: The Military College of South Carolina and an M.A. in English from Appalachian State University. He did his doctoral work in Social Foundations of Education at The University of Georgia.

His work has been published in academic journals and as book chapters, and he has presented and held workshops for national and international audiences. His first novel, THE LAST TESTAMENT, was published in 2019.

Williford’s work explores dichotomies and compromises as well as identity formation and its epistemological consequences as it relates to the mechanics of social hegemonic structures. He supports the multitude, fluid identity, and social notions of self. His works of fiction are described as a mixture of speculative fiction, satire, and neo-noir.

He lives in rural Kentucky with his wife and dogs where he gardens, writes, and seeks peace in an absurd world.
